Sunday School News

Greetings from Kids of the Kingdom
Sunday School (Sept., 2010),
Here’s hoping that our church families
enjoyed a wonderful summer, visiting family and friends, participating in sports
camps and just enjoying some free time.
As we look ahead to the new Sunday School year at Community Lutheran
Church, we invite families back to the many ministries that are offered to both
adults and children. The children’s
Sunday School theme this year is based on Matthew 19:14 and Isaiah 11:6 which
states:
“Jesus said: Let the little children come to me and do
not hinder them” …”and a little child shall lead them.”
Rally Day
is
September 12th,
for all Adult and Children’s Sunday School classes. Teachers will also be
installed on this day. The
children’s Sunday School classes will meet for Opening in the Sanctuary at
8:55 a.m.,
with the exception of our 0-3 year olds,
to join in Praise worship, Offering, Birthday Recognition and Seedlings
of Faith to lead into the lesson for the day. Teachers will join their
respective classes for Opening and then continue on to classrooms.
We continue to use the Growing in Christ Curriculum, which follows the
weekly Gospel Lesson. Be sure to
register you children, ages 0 through High School.
The classroom assignments are as follows:
0-2 years in Room 1, 3 year olds in Room 3, 4 year olds in Room 4,
Kindergarten in Room 5, 1st/2nd
Graders in Room 11, 3rd/4th
Graders in Room 6, 5th
Graders in Room 8, Junior High in
Room 12 and High School in the Youth Room.
Classrooms and Teacher names will be posted in the Preschool area.
Additional teachers are needed for our substitute list, so please see Joan
Vrielink-Capito or Gina Curley to indicate your interest.
Yours in His Service,
Joan Vrielink-Capito

The Mission Statement of our Sunday School is "To support families by teaching children the fundamental stories of faith and to follow God's command by training those children for discipleship." Our ministry program serves children of all ages. This begins with a Sunday School class for children from birth through
age two. Our other Sunday classes are also year-round and go through 12th grade. All children ages 3 through 4th grade are invited to participate in "Opening" with prayer, offering and songs. Children 5th grade and older go directly to their own Sunday School classes. Children are given their own offering envelopes. These offerings are used to support a mission child from Ecuador and for local service projects selected by the children. |
